A GORE-TEX membrane is used to line the upper of the Franconia Ridge This is a waterproofing guaranteed material which blocks water and rain, keeping the inside of the shoe and the foot dry and comfortable. Another superb benefit of GORE-TEX is that it’s breathable too! This means that cool air is allowed to flow through the fabric at the same time as warm air is being released, keeping the environment inside of the shoe as cool, fresh and comfy as possible. An engineered mesh is added in key areas to enhance ventilation and breathability as well as adds durability to the upper. This mesh is tougher and more durable than the standard mesh you see on other walking shoes or running shoes just for the fact it is needed when out on unpredictable and unforgiving terrain.
In addition, the upper offers synthetic overlays that provide structural integrity to the upper. This construction allows you to get a perfect and firmer fit around the midfoot, especially which in turn prevents any slipping from occurring during heavy exertion activities. A traditional lacing system works in tandem with the overlays to help with the fit. The traditional laces are added for familiarity and confidence compared to some lacing systems on the market, this provides confidence in your self and puts your mind at ease especially if you’re a walker that likes the traditional ways. Lastly, a back heel loop offers easy on and off making the experience all the more enjoyable, while a removable EVA sockliner provides added next to foot cushioning and comfort.
DMXRide Foam Midsole
The midsole unit offers DMXRide foam technology that moves air into the midsole for responsive shock absorption. The midsole unit absorbs the impact and shock forces that naturally occur during the heel strike face of the gait cycle and harnesses the energy created. Once the energy has harnessed the midsole then transfers that energy to the forefoot where it uses it to guide your foot forward onto the next step. The use of this technology is to be as efficient as possible and saves energy where possible.
